The event organizer is a person who's been associated with several other protests in our area. Event statement on Facebook disparages the 4th of July, and says Junteenth, June 19 1865 is the real Independence Day for All Americans, "not the whitewashed narrative of July 4 1776."

Due to what Kennewick Police said were "alarming" comments posted on social media, organizers chose to cancel or perhaps postpone this event.

The event is called Counter Protest for BLM on Facebook. The Details section contains the words "blue lives don't exist."

Event organizer said "credible threats" against event and those attending. We have reached out to KPD for clarification, have not received it yet on what those threats are.
