Kittitas County authorities say a 60-year-old man who died last Friday afternoon was attacked by a swarm of hornets he apparently disturbed while chopping wood at a campsite.

Warren Brown was unable to be revived by EMT's from the local hospital district after reportedly being attacked by a huge swarm of hornets.

Kittitas County officials say Brown was camping about 8 miles south of Cle Elum, and was chopping and gathering firewood when he disturbed a large hornets nest. The insects overwhelmed him, and he was found unconscious lying on the ground, suffering from multiple stings.

Authorities did not say if he had any insect allergies, but he apparently sustained dozens of stings.
