Last October, Alaska Air began to offer daily flights from Pasco Airport (PSC) to Burbank, CA, a popular addition to travel options from the Tri-Cities.

Burbank is a hub location near LA, and allows travelers and business people to easily access a lot of the region. However, now that daily flight has been scrubbed.

Alaska Did Not Specifically Say Why the Flight Was Discontinued

Five months after beginning the service, Alaska has cancelled that route. Officials did not specifically say why, but  they did say are doing an overall west coast revisiion and re-examination of services, flights and routes.

According to Apple Valley News, Airport Director Buck Taft said it could be in part to competition, or perhaps the route wasn't performing up to their standards passenger-wise.   Allegiant has just begun twice weekly service to the area, and not long ago Allegiant also began to offer significantly discounted one-way flights to the region, landing at John Wayne Airport.

This change will not affect other flights leaving PSC, and later this spring or summer, flights from Pasco to Portland will also be resumed. Currently, with the arrival of Breeze Airlines (replacing the departing Avelo) there are six major carriers who operate out of Pasco including Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta and United Airlines.

In 2025, PSC saw nearly 500,000 passengers utilize the airport for various types of travel.
