In a scene eerily similar to one of many episodes of Criminal Minds on TV, the FBI's Behavior Analysis Team is in Roseburg, trying to find clues, information and details to explain why 26-year-old Chris Mercer killed ten people and injured many others.

These profilers are the real life version of the ones you see on TV on the massively popular show Criminal Minds.  In real life, they're called the Behavioral Analysis Team, not Unit (BAU), but these profilers operate pretty much the same way.

Their goal in this instance is to attempt to piece together all the information and offer a plausible reason shooter Mercer did what he did.  In doing so, they would likely offer information and leads that could possibly prevent another such tragedy.

By finding reasons and motivations, they can act as warning signs for law enforcement, mental health providers and others - as well as simply providing answers for those who lost loved ones at Umpqua Community College.

Other specifics and details about how they will do this were not made public.
