Authorities nabbed the man near the border crossing at Blaine, WA. (Pictured here is the U.S. side of the border crossing).

Not many details have been initially released about the arrest of 20-year-old Nicholas Teausant, but officials say he was trying to get into Canada.  His eventual hope was to join up with al-quaida in Syria.

Authorities say the man was in the "process" of being released from the U.S. Army National Guard, but didn't elaborate why or what was being done to release him.

If convicted of terrorism related charges, he could face up to 15 years in prison.  Officials didn't say what details or information led to Teausant's arrest.
