After decades of planning and months of construction, the new hospital at Southridge will be opening this summer.

TRIOS Health Care System has slated July 15th as the official opening date for the new hospital across the street from Southridge High School.

The facility had originally been scheduled to open in June, but some procedural delays concerning elevator inspections set back the timetable.   A public open house is scheduled for May 31st.

The new hospital will serve as the centerpiece for TRIOS (formerly Kennewick General Hospital).  The new facility broke ground in 2012, and will feature 74-beds in it's 7 story, 160,000 square-foot building.  It will also house 27 emergency and trauma center rooms.   The actual care center portion of the facility is three stories, the 7-story portion is office and medical service areas.   It will also feature 14 intensive care rooms as well.

During it's primary construction phase, the project employed an average of at least 250 workers, generating millions in wages and other revenue for the economy.
