8th Rep Boehnke to Seek District Senate Seat–Brown ‘Retiring’
With longtime GOP State Senator Sharon Brown not seeking re-election in 2022, now a familiar face will see the position.
Boehnke is a veteran and Kamiakin High Grad who retired in 2011 after 21 years in the Army, specializing in cyber warfare and related fields. He now teaches cyber security at CBC and owns an IT firm.
Since 2018 he's been a fast-growing leader in the GOP, taking the 8th District House Seat vacated by the retiring Larry Haler of Richland.
With Senator Brown retiring, that leaves a large vacancy in the strong GOP-led 8th, and Boenke is going to try to fill it.
He refers to the 8th as "The Mighty 8th" #Mighty8th, and he and Klippert have worked hard to fend off damaging and bizarre legislation proposed by west-side Democrats.
Brown's Senate term will expire in January 2023.
