Americans Tailgate Party Event Cancelled, New Event Coming
The Red Mountain Event Center's Tri City Americans tailgate party event scheduled for April 24th has been canceled, per organizers. The news was released Monday.
Saturday, the Western Hockey League announced, per protocols, they were suspending the activities of the Americans due to a positive COVID test by one of the players.
The news was released midday Saturday, forcing the cancellation of Sat-Sun hockey this last weekend, as well as the 4-21 game.
The Red Mountain Event Center is a multi-city effort by citizens, business people and others to develop the old Tri-City Raceway grounds into a multi-function location for movies, events, even some racing activities. Despite being canceled due to COVID limitations by Gov. Inslee, the center was planning a full-blown Daytona 500 party that would have been impressive.
Now, as Phase 3 restrictions are easing up, a number of events have been slated for the facility, including a Movie night Friday the 23rd featuring Ford vs. Ferrari. Saturday was to be the Tri City Americans vs. Everett hockey watch party on the big screen.
However with last weekend's games being canceled as well as Wednesday the 21st. the status of Saturday's game is very much up in the air.
WHL and CHL standard protocols are for a team shutdown for anywhere from 7-10 days. Even a 7 day would affect the event, so it was canceled.
However, details are coming very shortly about a replacement event that you will want to be part of. Keep watching and listening to our stations for more details!
If you were holding a carload pass for the Hockey Tailgate Party, contact the Event Center for details.
