City Of Richland Gears Up For National Night Out

The City of Richland is getting ready for their annual National Night Out and City Fair event on Tuesday, August 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in John Dam Plaza.

National Night Out is a national family friendly event that brings people and law enforcement together to focus on community safety and strengthen relationships between the public and emergency services.

According to a News Release from the City Of Richland, Richland's National Night Out will feature fun activities for kids, learn more about City Services, our Community and Police Neighborhood Program, the CodeRED emergency notification program, and the new Heart Safe Richland initiative.

The opening ceremony will begin at 5:30. After the opening ceremony, kids twelve and under are encouraged to complete a City Passport to be eligible for cool prizes. Prizes include bicycles, gift cards to local establishments, outdoor adventure kits, Benton Franklin Fair & Radio Kids Passes, and more.

There will also be free hot dogs and shaved iced for the first 500 attendees.

Richland Firefighters will present two HeartSafe Richland / Hands-Only CPR Training sessions where kids and adults can easily learn this life saving skill. The two free sessions will take place at the HAPO Community Stage at 6:15 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. Training is hands-on and takes about 20 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing.

Just a quick traffic update if you are attending National Night Out, Jadwin Avenue, between Mansfield and Knight Streets and bordering the park in front of the Federal Building, will close to through traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The parking lot south of the plaza will also close for the day for event preparation. Parking is available at the Federal Building parking lot. Foot and bicycle transportation is encouraged.
