A few weeks ago the Port of Kennewick voted to close Vista Field permanently, and make the land available for development. The decision was made with hopes of attracting more businesses and retail activity, and because the field was losing thousands of dollars annually.

A time table is being established with target dates for various stages of dismantling the facility.  An airport isn't something you just take apart overnight; and a series of events have to occur. Plans for what to do with the buildings on the land, including where existing tenants might move, tearing out the runways, and re-landscaping the area are among the phases.

Newstalk 870 caught up with the Port of Kennewick to see if any firm timetables have been reached and were told by the Port's Tim Arntzen no timetable has been set yet -- probably within 60 days.
