Two Oregon Sheriffs Say They Will Refuse to Enforce Any Excecutive Orders From Obama for Gun Control
Two Oregon sheriffs are probably going to get re-elected after taking this stand.Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller and Crook County Sheriff Jim Hensley have both sent letters to the federal government saying they want no part in enforcing Obama's new gun edicts. From the letter Mueller sent to Vice President Joe Biden:
We are Americans. We must not allow, nor shall we tolerate, the actions of criminals, no matter how heinous the crimes, to prompt politicians to enact laws that will infringe upon the liberties of responsible citizens who have broken no laws.Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies... It is the position of this Sheriff that I refuse to participate, or sand idly by, while my citizens are turned into criminals due to the unconstitutional actions of misguided politicians.
Since posting the letter on the Linn County Sheriff's Facebook page, it has gained more than 38,000 likes! Sheriff Hensley wrote a similar letter to Biden, in which he refused to:
"Permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Crook Country, Oregon."
Similar letters and pledges have been made by officials in various counties in Kentucky and Minnesota, and even the Yakima County Sheriff has said they would not participate in any firearm confiscation if it ever came to that.
