Police, SWAT, Apprehend Suspect Who Threatened Suicide by Cop
After a standoff involving SWAT and multiple law enforcement agencies, a wanted suspect is in jail, facing a number of charges.
MAN SOUGHT ON ROBBERY, RESTRAINING ORDER VIOLATIONS
Nov. 30th 2021, Richland Police began to investigate a burglary in which two firearms, some jewelry, money, and a laptop were taken from a residence. In the course of tracking the case, they developed a likely suspect.
Then Thursday, Dec. 9th, they got information that the suspect was at a residence in Kennewick, but Police didn't say exactly where.
Multiple agencies surrounded the home due to the suspect's previous criminal history. He was sought on these burglary charges as well as previous violations of a court order with his ex-wife. During the standoff, he refused to leave the residence.
WHY WAS SWAT BROUGHT IN?
The man repeatedly threatened to commit suicide by cop (engaging in actions that would force officers to shoot and kill him) and his history, so the Tri-City Regional SWAT team was brought in for a precaution.

After a lengthy standoff, the man was captured without serious incident. He is now in the Benton County jail. His name was not released.
