Who Steals a Firefighter’s Gear? This Stupid Perp Took $5K Worth
The Grant County Sheriff's Department and the Grant County Fire Department District 13 continue to search and ask for tips from the public.
Over the Labor Day Weekend, somebody broke into a Royal Slope Volunteer firefighter's vehicle and stole their entire fire outfit, from jacket to boots, to helmet--they took it all.
It will now cost about $5K to replace it. The jacket has 'Royal Slope' on the back, it's basically the Royal City Fire Department via Grant County. This picture shows exactly what it looks like, these are other uniforms on a storage rack.
This gear is NOT cheap, it's specialized and designed for various types of fire response. Grant County Deputies are assisting in the search, and asking anyone who may have any information at all to call (509)-762-1160.
This includes anyone who may know where it is, OR if the gear is found lying around somewhere.
Public response to this incident has generated a flurry of angry comments from citizens, probably the best comment came from a man named Jon (last name withheld for privacy reasons):
"What kind of antichrist would steal a fireman’s PPE?"
We couldn't agree more.
