Over the years, it seems tattoos have become more popular, you see more extravagant designs as well. It's no different here in Tri-Cities.

Where can you get some ink in Tri-Cities?

Although I only have two, barbed wire on one arm and some Chinese characters on the other ("peace and tranquility"--I checked multiple times), other members of our family have quite a few. My wife and older daughters in their late 20's have multiples, and they look cool.

Wife has a dragon from hip to arm on her side.

Her biggest one took multiple visits, and parts of it were a bit painful, but not horrible.

People have various reasons for getting one, often it's a reminder of a special time in their life, a special person, or event.   Or, just because.  Whatever the reason, a few tips before you start.

Make sure you have a design that's feasible. Draw it on paper, or even better, if you can find a picture of the design that's clean and visible. Bring it to the artist beforehand and ask if they can replicate it.  Yes, there are some images that are extremely difficult to do on the skin.

Ask the tattooer if they utilize Lidocaine.  It's a topical spray or ointment that can help ease some of the sting or pain but keep in mind, it's most effective once the work has begun and it begins to feel uncomfortable (if it does).   Also, know that certain areas are more sensitive than others. The inside of your arms, sides, parts of your back, and feet can be more painful than other areas being inked.

When you consult with the artist, get a firm quote on the price. Show them your design or ideas before having them start so that way no surprises. Quality work on an extensive design can be a little expensive, perhaps a few hundred bucks, so find out in advance.
